ER17505 Battery
The ER17505 is a cylindrical primary lithium cell in the ER series, built on lithium thionyl chloride chemistry at a nominal voltage of 3.6V. Its nominal capacity is 3,400 mAh, its size is 17 x 50.5 mm, and its reference weight is about 32 g. Standard current is 1.00 A, with maximum continuous current of 100 mA and maximum pulse current of 200 mA, as listed in the source specification table for this model. The operating temperature range stated on the source detail page is -55 to +85 degrees Celsius, and the cut-off voltage is 2.00V.

Cells of this type are used where a device must run unattended for years: utility meters, water meters, IoT sensors, GPS trackers, security equipment and industrial instruments. The combination of 3.6V output, high energy density and very low self-discharge — less than 1 percent per year at category level — makes the ER series a practical choice for equipment that is sealed, remote or difficult to service. A meter installed in a housing, or a sensor mounted in a location that is expensive to visit, benefits directly from a cell that holds its charge for more than 10 years of shelf life at category level.
Three characteristics define the ER series. First, energy density: the category states energy density up to 650 Wh/kg, which is why a small cylindrical cell can power a device for years. Second, shelf life: more than 10 years at category level, so stock held for a project does not lose its usefulness quickly. Third, temperature tolerance: the detail page states -55 to +85 degrees Celsius, covering outdoor installations through winter cold and summer heat. These are category and detail-page statements; the model-specific figures in the table above are the values that apply to this model.
When selecting this model, confirm four things against the final datasheet before mass production: the capacity variant required, the continuous and pulse current the device actually draws, the operating temperature range at the installation site, and whether the cell will be used alone or assembled into a pack. Cells in this series are also available as the building blocks of custom primary lithium battery packs and hybrid pulse capacitor packs, where series and parallel structures reach the voltage and capacity a device needs, and where a capacitor can supply high pulse loads. Minimum order value is USD $500, according to the company FAQ, and samples are available. Lead time is confirmed per order. Certificates are available upon request.
The ER series around this model covers a wide span of sizes, and that span is useful when a product family uses several cell sizes. A compact sensor may use ER14250 or ER14505, a mid-size instrument may use ER17505 or ER26500, and a large, long-life installation may use ER34615, all on the same 3.6V chemistry with the same handling rules. Keeping one chemistry across a product family simplifies qualification, stocking and documentation, because the voltage, the storage rules and the certification names stay the same while only the size and capacity change. When a product family is planned, it is worth mapping every device to its ER size early, so that the battery compartment, the holder and the pack structure, where a pack is needed, are designed once rather than revised for each device.
Storage and handling for ER cells follow the same rules as for other primary lithium cells. Store cells cool and dry, in their original packaging or in trays that prevent terminals from touching each other or metal objects, and keep them within the stated temperature limits. A short circuit during storage can damage a cell and create a safety hazard, so damaged packaging should be checked before use. Cells that are swollen, leaking or physically damaged should not be installed, and should be disposed of through the proper channel for lithium cells. For transport, UN38.3 test documentation applies to the cell design, and shipping arrangements are confirmed per order, with air freight or sea freight stated as the available options.
