FR03 (FR10445) Battery

The FR03 (FR10445) is a 1.5V primary lithium cell in the LiFeS2 line, in the AAA size. Its nominal capacity is about 1,200 to 1,250 mAh (see note below). Because it delivers 1.5V, it fits devices designed for alkaline AAA cells while offering the longer shelf life and wider temperature tolerance of a lithium cell. The LiFeS2 line is stated to have a shelf life of up to 10 years and an operating temperature range from -40 to 60 degrees Celsius at category level.

The practical case for a 1.5V lithium cell is the device that must work on demand after long storage: remote controls, torches, cameras, toys, clocks, wireless mice and keyboards, and portable medical devices. A cell that still delivers full voltage after years in a drawer is worth more than a cheaper cell that has faded. The AAA size is the everyday size for these devices, which is why the LiFeS2 line needs only two models rather than a large matrix: one for AA devices and one for AAA devices.

Three characteristics define the LiFeS2 line. First, voltage compatibility: 1.5V output matches the alkaline sizes these cells replace, so no device redesign is needed. Second, shelf life: up to 10 years at category level, so stock and installed cells alike keep their charge. Third, temperature tolerance: -40 to 60 degrees Celsius at category level, covering cold outdoor use and warm indoor storage. A note on capacity figures: the source catalogue gives two different capacity figures for this model — a product-title figure and a category-page typical figure. This site reports the capacity as a range and does not choose one figure as the single value. The exact figure should be confirmed against the final datasheet before ordering. The LiFeS2 line has only two models, and that simplicity is deliberate: FR6 covers every device that takes an AA cell, and FR03 covers every device that takes an AAA cell. There is no wider matrix to navigate, because the everyday sizes are the whole market for a 1.5V lithium cell. A buyer who stocks both sizes covers remote controls, torches, cameras, toys, clocks, wireless mice and keyboards, and portable medical devices, with one chemistry, one voltage and one set of handling rules. Storage and handling for LiFeS2 cells follow the same rules as for other primary lithium cells. Store cells cool and dry, in their original packaging or in trays that prevent terminals from touching each other or metal objects, and keep them within the stated temperature limits. A short circuit during storage can damage a cell and create a safety hazard, so damaged packaging should be checked before use. Cells that are swollen, leaking or physically damaged should not be installed, and should be disposed of through the proper channel for lithium cells. For transport, UN38.3 test documentation applies to the cell design, and shipping arrangements are confirmed per order, with air freight or sea freight stated as the available options.
